Philadelphia Quakers
And The Anti-Slavery Movement
With Brian Temple

In his second book, Pennsville native and historian Brian Temple provides a glimpse into our early American history that few are familiar with.

When the Quakers arrived in the american Colonies in pursuit of religious freedom, the majority of them came with slaves. Slave trading was a very lucrative business.

The movement to abolish slavery spanned almost 200 years until the mancipation proclamation in 1863.

Come learn how a samll group of Quakers from Philadelphia and New Jersey fought against slaver, how the antislavery movement grew, and the events that impacted our area.

As always, light refreshments will be served after the meeting
