Salem County Historical Society June Quarterly Meeting – NEW LOCATION @ Salem County Historical Society
Jun 10 @ 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Date: Sunday June 10, 2018
Time: 1:30pm-3:30pm
Place: Salem County Historical Society, 83 Market St. Salem, NJ 08079
Presenter: William Ott

Please join us for our Quarterly Meeting on Sunday, June 10th beginning at 1:30 and held in the gardens at the Salem County Historical Society, 83 Market Street, Salem. Following a brief business meeting we will be enlightened and entertained by William Ott of Alloway, a Hammered Dulcimer musician.

To most modern Americans, the hammered dulcimer is a new and unfamiliar instrument. Even people who know much about American music often confuse the hammered dulcimer with the three- or four-stringed “mountain” or “plucked” dulcimer, although the two have nothing in common except their name. Surprisingly, the hammered dulcimer, which is an ancient ancestor of the piano, at one time enjoyed widespread popularity throughout this country.

If you had a chance to attend our recent spring house tour, Open House in Fenwick’s Colony, you will remember Will playing in the parlor of the Richard Miller House. Here is your chance to hear him once again!
